4.3.2025 | Russia is expected to redeploy resources released by the end of the war in Ukraine. This will also increase the threat to Finland.

2.1.2024 | A reorganisation of Supo took effect on 1 January 2024, implementing minor modifications to enhance information gathering and the work of Supo as an intelligence service. Deputy Director Teemu Turunen has been appointed Acting Director.

26.3.2024 | The threat of Russian intelligence and malign influence activities has remained elevated despite deteriorating conditions for human intelligence operations. No significant changes have occurred in the threat of terrorism faced by Finland.

12.10.2023 | While the threat of intelligence and influencing operations against critical infrastructure has increased, a crippling effect on infrastructure operations in Finland remains unlikely in the immediate future. Relations between Finland and Russia have significantly deteriorated, with Russia prepared to take measures against Finland if it deems this necessary. 30.3.2023 | Expulsions of Russian intelligence officers and visa refusals on the advice of Supo have weakened Russian human intelligence in Finland. Human intelligence under diplomatic cover has traditionally been the main instrument of Russian intelligence operations abroad.

29.9.2022 | Facing obstacles to human intelligence operations in the West, Russia has turned to the cyber environment and other intelligence sources, including foreigners in Russia. Published by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) on 29 September, the National Security Overview describes this revised approach.
