Supo is not primarily tasked with investigating criminal offences.
The principal mission of Supo is to ward off threats to Finland’s national security. Supo also furnishes top-level national government and other public authorities with security information to substantiate policymaking. The investigation of crimes that have already taken place is the responsibility of police departments and the National Bureau of Investigation.
