FIIA Forum 2022 focuses on changes and challenges in the Nordic security climate
The Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) and the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) are jointly organizing the FIIA Forum 2022 seminar Changes and challenges in the Nordic security climate on Wednesday 27 April 2022 at 13.30–16.30. The seminar will be livestreamed.
FIIA Forum is FIIA's largest annual discussion event, this time discussing the dramatic change in the Nordic security environment and its impact on the future of Finland. What are the dynamics shaping the current Northern European security climate and how should they be managed? What is the role of security intelligence cooperation in crafting a joint Nordic approach to evolving security threats and challenges?
Opening remarks of the seminar will be given by Speaker of the Parliament Matti Vanhanen.
The seminar will be launched by a panel Geopolitical outlook to the changed security situation in Finland’s neighbourhood attended by Director of FIIA Mika Aaltola, Supo Senior Analyst Veli-Pekka Kivimäki, Nonresident Senior Fellow Robert Nurick (Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security), and Director for Northern Europe Anna Wieslander (Atlantic Council). The panel will be moderated by Charly Salonius-Pasternak, Leading Researcher with FIIA.
In the following panel Common challenges in the Nordic security and intelligence community, Head of Supo Antti Pelttari, Head of the Swedish Security Service SÄPO Charlotte von Essen, and Head of the Norwegian Police Security Service PST Hans Sverre Sjøvold will be discussing the changed security situation. The panel will be moderated by Katri Makkonen.
